| Here is a little bit of information to help you understand what our team program is all about. Girls begin competing when they reach Level 4 in the USA Gymnastics Competitive Program. Levels 4, 5 and 6 are compulsory levels, meaning that each gymnast performs the same routine as every other gymnast in competition. In Level 7, gymnasts begin performing optional routines, in which they perform routines, created from a list of appropriate skills, with their own distinct and personal style. Levels 8, 9, and 10 are also optional levels. After Level 10, gymnasts can move into the Elite Gymnastics program, which is the Olympic level of gymnastics. Most gymnasts who earn scholarships to college are Level 10 or above. The competitive events for girls' gymnastics are the vault, uneven parallel bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Competitions are held at local gymnastics clubs and include gymnasts in the same age categories and level from nearby clubs. Awards are given for individual and team achievement. Our gymnasts compete against gymnasts from clubs from all over Iowa, the Midwest and even the nation. Our expert coaches prepare the gymnasts to compete at the State, Regional and National levels. |

Our Optional Team has just begun our summer schedule and are already learning all kinds of new skills for the upcoming 2010 season. Our coaches are doing a tremendous job getting our team prepared to compete while making sure the gymnasts are having fun too. There have recently been some changes to our coaching staff that has made CGA a better place to train. The coach to gymnast ratio has been greatly improved, which we believe is of vital importance to the gymnasts experience with gymnastics. We are all looking forward to the most fun, exciting and productive summer yet. Keep up the great work ladies!
